A Rental to Remember- Uncle Scotty's Vacation Village

Back in early July, I moved down to Florida with my dog Chloe. While waiting to move into our apartment, I stayed in a vacation rental cottage for a week and a half. I was just looking for a place close to the new apartment, but ended up staying in a wonderful location.

This little vacation cottage was a part of a larger property, of a big house and some small cottages on the river. It was perfectly placed of being near highway 1, as well as being on the river, and a short drive down a backroad to a bridge across the river and to the beach. Each day I woke up to a quiet street, where I took Chloe with me to sit on the dock and eat my breakfast. It was here on the dock I got to dip my does in the river (barely because I'm a short individual), watch other residents kayak into the river, see bioluminescence at night, watch the birds, and later on have a manatees and otters pop up inches from my toes.

At my cottage I enjoyed many afternoons playing with Chloe in the fenced in patio, and again in the big house yard (where the owners encouraged me to let Chloe run free as much as I wanted- they had their own dogs they brought to the house as well). And speaking of the owners- I got to meet them early on in my stay, and they discovered in conversation that I am a photographer as well as a teacher. We got talking and they hired me on to photograph the large house as soon as their team finished renovations (which they had been working on every day of my stay), and I could not have been more excited. The day came- and I got to experience my first troubles of photographing in a VERY humid environment, but I also got to have lots of laughs as I captured photos of all their hard work, and the smiles and silly faces of the team celebrating a job well done. I am very proud of what they have accomplished and I can't wait to work with them again in the near future.
